Policy Exchange report

I have read the report by the Policy Exchange think tank ( www.policyexchange.org.uk ): "Living apart together - British Muslims and the paradox of multiculturalism".

In many ways it is an excellent report, presenting some much needed data in an authoratitive way. For example, 37 percent of 16 - 24 year olds would prefer to live under Sharia law, compared to 17 percent of 55+ year olds. If this trend continues, and there is no reason to believe that it will not, then we can expect an increase in the intensity of the demands for Sharia law to be introduced in the coming years.

The report also makes a number of very good points. For example, the political support over the years for multi-culturalism has been cited as a serious error. However, in itself, it does not explain why young Muslim men wish to become suicide bombers. We do not see young Hindus or Sikhs blowing themselves up together with innocent civilians, and so the promotion of multi-culturalism in itself does not explain the home-grown Islamic terrorist threat. Furthermore, logically following from this, even if multi-culturalism had not been encouraged, we can therefore also say that there would still be an Islamic terrorist threat. There must be another explanation.

The conflicts in various Islamic states (Afghanistan and Iraq principally) and the Israeli - Palestinian conflict are seen to exacerbate the problem of home-grown Islamic terrorists. However, this cannot be a root cause, since such conflicts have been going on for many years. In addition, we have not seen such an uprising or suicide bombings from other groups, such as Argentinians or those from Sierra Leone etc, where there have also been military actions. There must be another explanation.

Social depravation, poor housing, poor health and bad job prospects are also problems. However, these also affect other groups, such as Hindus and Sikhs, so in themselves they do not explain why we are seeing such a serious terrorist threat from the Muslim community. There is no such threat from other communities. Also, the London bombers had jobs, and were not living in poverty. There must be another explanation.

Not really touched on in the report is the very serious and increasingly numerous and severe attacks by "Asian" gangs, who are happy to murder and rape. The label "Asian" is very unfortunate, as it tars many innocent communities with the same brush. The media are very irresponsible for failing to give a true picture. Predominantly they are Muslim gangs. Why is it mainly Muslims involved, and not Hindus, Sikhs, Zoroastrians etc? There must be another explanation.

Why are Muslim women treated as second-class citizens by their Muslim "brothers"? Why is a woman's testimony worth only half of a man's testimony under Sharia law?

Why are homosexuals treated so appallingly by Muslims?

Why are Jews singled out for especial loathing by Muslims? Why have attacks on individuals increased so much, motivated by anti-Semitism? The Israeli - Palestinian conflict does not justify this. There must be another explanation.

The report by the Policy Exchange is good, so far as it goes. However, it fails to put its finger on the root cause of Islamic terrorism, or anti-Semitism, or the poor treatment of women and homosexuals, or give an explanation for the predominance of Muslim gangs. Read on for the true explanation. It is not "politically correct", but offers the only complete meaning to an otherwise baffling set of observations. If you cannot, or will not understand the root cause of a problem, you have very little probability of resolving it. When you have eliminated all the other possible factors, then what you have remaining must be the true cause of the problem.

The root of the problem is simply stated:

Whilst it is possible for individual (semi-apostate) Muslims to be moderate, unfortunately Islam itself, and more specifically the Quran are very far from being moderate. The Quran teaches violence towards non-Muslims, and especially towards Jews. Tolerance and integration are very distant from its true teachings. Furthermore, the Quran cannot be edited or modified to remove the violent, bloodthirsty and intolerant verses, which are at the heart of the matter.

That is it, in a nutshell. The evidence is to be found within the Quran itself. Here are some quotes.

First and foremost, it is vitally important to understand the concept of "abrogation". This means that the chronologically earlier verses are cancelled out, and superceeded by the chronologically later verses. The earlier verses are generally very tolerant, such as "there shall be no compulsion in religion". Unfortunately, the later verses are very intolerant and bloodthirsty. Furthermore, one single later verse can abrogate numerous earlier verses.

Here is the verse that describes abrogation:

"Whatever communications We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring one better than it or like it. Do you not know that Allah has power over all things?" Quran 2.106

As an aside: The Bible is also abrogated by the Quran.

Secondly, there is the matter of honesty. Within Judaism and Christianity there is the injunction to be truthful, as one of the ten commandments states:

"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour." Exodus 20:16

"Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother." Mark 10:19

Unfortunately, Islam is not like this. Indeed, within the Hadiths we see that it is perfectly permissible to tell a lie, particularly to confuse the enemies of Islam:

"Whenever I tell you a narration from Allah's Apostle, by Allah, I would rather fall down from the sky than ascribe a false statement to him, but if I tell you something between me and you (not a Hadith) then it was indeed a trick (i.e., I may say things just to cheat my enemy)." Hadith Volume 9, Book 84, Number 64

Taking these two points together therefore, a Muslim can argue, seemingly convincingly, that Islam is peaceful, by quoting numerous very tolerant verses. What he is dishonestly avoiding to tell you is that most, if not all of such verses have been abrogated. It is vitally important to understand these points.

Note that the Hadiths are a collection of writings. They are the sayings of Mohammed, effectively his biography.


Thirdly, the word "Islam" does not mean "peace". Instead it is derived from the Arabic word "al-silm" meaning "submission" or "surrender". If you are a prisoner, and do not submit and convert to Islam, it is highly likely that you will be beheaded.



The attitude of Islam towards women is appalling, demonstrated by the following quotes.

The intelligence of women is belittled by Mohammed:

'Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Apostle ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you.' Hadith 1 6 301


Women are treated as property, and have no say over the usage of their own body:

"Your wives are a tilth for you, so go into your tilth when you like" Quran 2.223


Women slaves (those whom your right hand possesses) can be raped with impunity:

"O Prophet! surely We have made lawful to you your wives whom you have given their dowries, and those whom your right hand possesses out of those whom Allah has given to you as prisoners of war" Quran 33.50


Integration of Muslims with any other community is impossible:

"Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends rather than believers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming." Quran 3.28

"O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness; and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil)." Quran 9.123


There is an especial hatred of Jews:

"Allah's Apostle said, "You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, 'O 'Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.' " " Hadith Volume 4, Book 52, Number 176:

"Wherefore for the iniquity of those who are Jews did We disallow to them the good things which had been made lawful for them and for their hindering many (people) from Allah's way. And their taking usury though indeed they were forbidden it and their devouring the property of people falsely, and We have prepared for the unbelievers from among them a painful chastisement." Quran 4.160-161



Anybody who is a non-Muslim is a target:

"O Prophet! urge the believers to war; if there are twenty patient ones of you they shall overcome two hundred, and if there are a hundred of you they shall overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they are a people who do not understand." Quran 8.65


There is a supremacist attitude:

"Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection." Quran 9.29


The punishment for questioning Islam is severe:

"They desire that you should disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike; therefore take not from among them friends until they fly (their homes) in Allah's way; but if they turn back, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper." Quran 4.89


The Quran itself glorifies terrorism. ( Is that not illegal now? )

"When your Lord revealed to the angels: I am with you, therefore make firm those who believe. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them." Quran 8.12

We can clearly see that these bloodthirsty and intolerant verses are as relevant today as when they were written many centuries ago. This is demonstrated by the Channel 4 Dispatches programme "Undercover Mosque", broadcast on the 15th January 2007.

A Dispatches reporter attends mosques run by organisations whose public faces are presented as moderate and finds preachers condemning integration into British society, condemning democracy and praising the Taliban for killing British soldiers.

Here are some extracts from the transcript of the programme:

Abu Usamah: We want the laws of Islam to be practised, we want to do away with the man-made laws

Abu Usamah: No-one loves the kuffaar, no-one loves the kuffaar, not a single person here from the Muslims loves the kuffaar, whether those kuffaar are from the UK or the US. We love the people of Islam and we hate the people of kufr, we hate the kuffaar

Abu Usamah: He’s better than a million George Bushes, Osama Bin Laden, and he’s better than a thousand Tony Blairs, because he’s a Muslim

Abu Usamah: Whoever changes his religion from Islam to anything else – kill him in the Islamic state

Abu Usamah: Verily Allah going to bring a group of people that he loves and they love him, these people will who will be soft and kind to the believers and they will be rough and tough against the kuffaar, they will fight in the cause of Allah

I encourage all of you to be from amongst them, to begin to cultivate ourselves for the time that is fast approaching where the tables are going to turn and the Muslims are going to be in the position of being uppermost in strength, and when that happens, people won’t get killed – unjustly

Grand Mufti: This is not true. Jews and Christians who do not follow the Prophet Mohammed are kuffaar. They will go to hell

In a DVD of a conference at Green Lane Mosque, a preacher called Sheikh Al-Jibali says Muslim children should be kept away from non-Muslims

Abu Usamah: Allah has created the woman, even if she gets a Phd, deficient. Her intellect is incomplete, deficient. She may be suffering from hormones that will make her emotional. It takes two witnesses of a woman to equal the one witness of the man

Abu Usamah: Do you practise homosexuality with men? Take that homosexual man and throw him off the mountain

Lord Ahmed recently said he would ask the Lord Chancellor to meet an organisation called the Islamic Shari’ah Council, including its Secretary General, a preacher called Sheikh Suhaib Hasan The meeting would be to discuss the introduction of Islamic divorce laws into the UK constitution

Sh Hasan: The chopping of the hands of the thieves, the flogging of the adulterers and flogging of the drunkards

Sheikh Feiz: The peak, the pinnacle, the crest, the highest point, the pivot, the summit, of Islam, is jihad

We want to have children and offer them as soldiers defending Islam. Teach them this, there is nothing more beloved to me than wanting to die as a mujahid, put in their soft tender hearts the zeal of jihad and the love of martyrdom

Al Faisal cassette: You have to bomb the Indian businesses, and as for the Jews you kill them physically

The rulings say Muslims in the West must have “an attitude of enmity and hatred of the kaffirs …. all of the kuffaar are the enemies of the Muslims”…

Sh Yasin: This whole delusion of the equality of women is a bunch of foolishness…. There’s no such thing

Dr Mian: King, Queen, House of Commons. If you accept it, you are a part of it. You don’t accept it, you have to dismantle it. So you being a Muslim you have to fix a target, there will be no House of Commons. From that White House to this Black House, we know that we have to dismantle it

Dr Mian: You are in a situation in which you have to live like a state within a state, until you take over. But until this happens, you have to preach, until you become such a force that the people they just submit to you, hands up, until you become strong enough to take over

Never will the Jews and Christians be happy with you until you follow their way, and their system and their way of life. Call the people to avoid and renounce the way of the Jews and the Christians, which is the way of freedom, which is the way of equality, which is the way of democracy

Deputy head: And they’ve got all these people, all these organisations talking about it, let’s be “democratic”. And I disagree with using the word democracy. They should call it according to the Islamic understanding of the word, which is kuffrocracy, kuffrocracy that’s their plan. It’s the hidden, cancerous aim of these people

What gives Muslims the right to avoid scrutiny? If we are seeking the truth about Islam, then it is quite possible that someone will try to attach the label "Islamophobic" to us. An honest researcher should not be labelled in this way. In other words, do not shoot the messenger. Quoting from the Policy Exchange report:

"An integral aspect of this liberal model is the right to cause offence and criticise other people’s cultures. Today, with increased sensitivities about Islamophobia, many Muslims feel entitled to have their religious views and identity protected. Their attitudes towards women, homosexuality, or politics are seen to be so inalienable that they are out of bounds for criticism." page 89

Nevertheless, I do have the impression that the authors of the report are holding back. They surely know more than they wish to state at this stage. Self-censorship is entirely understandable, if somewhat unhelpful. Nobody wishes to have a fatwa against them, and have to go into hiding, as happened to Salman Rushdie. Nobody wishes to be murdered, as happened to Theo van Gough. Freedom of speech and freedom of expression are already severely curbed due to the pressure from Muslims. We have no hope of tackling the Islamic menace, if we are prevented from debating it.

Two hundred years ago, slavery was abolished due to the efforts of William Wilberforce and other Christians. Today it is estimated that there are five times as many slaves in the world than in the time of Wilberforce. Much of this slavery is in Islamic states. We must do what we can for them, but no less importantly, we must do what we can to free the minds of those who are amongst us from enslavement to the Quran. It is harmful to them, and harmful to the rest of society also.

Churchill understood well the Islamic menace. It is sobering to consider that if suceeding politicians, both Labour and Conservative had understood the truth as he did, then we very probably would have avoided the Islamic menace that is now within our shores.

Blair is either confused or is dishonest:

"The most remarkable thing about reading the Koran – in so far as it can be truly translated from the original Arabic - is to understand how progressive it is. "


Churchill:

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia (rabies) in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries; improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

"A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

"Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

"No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step. Were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome."

We in Britain must regain our self confidence to do the right thing, even if it is not popular in certain quarters. Appeasement is not an option. It did not work with the Nazis, and it does not work with Islam either.


Humanity needs peace not Islam.
